LISBON – The Lisbon Rotary Club will once again sponsor a Thanksgiving dinner at the Lisbon High School cafeteria where everyone can join for the special family day.

The dinner, which was launched in 1986, is intended for anyone who would like to be with others for a Thanksgiving meal, regardless of income. It is the brainchild of Richard LaRoche and the late Roberts “Bob” Lawrence.

A huge success that first year, it has grown each year since and is the Lisbon Rotary Club’s biggest project of the year.

Doors will open at 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day with hors d’oeuvres and entertainment provided by Dick Waters and his band, “Just Friends.” Dinner will be served at noon, and every female attending will be presented a flower and every male a boutonniere.

Centerpieces, which are handmade by Claire Mitchell, will be given away after dinner by drawings.

So the committee can prepare the right amount of food, people are being asked to call Dick Gould at 725-1826 or Ora Madden at the Lisbon Town Office, 353-3000, ext. 107, if planning to attend. Those who need transportation or a home delivery can also call one of the numbers.

Chefs will be Nancy Couture, an instructor at the Culinary Art Program at Central Maine Community College in Auburn, and her students, John Caron, Mike Mayberry and Pat Roy. Lisbon High School members of the Rotary Interact Club will help with the preparations and serving.

Homemade pies are needed, and anyone wishing to donate a pie or pies should call Gould.

Rotary President John Poulin and students of the Interact Club will be the official greeters.
