It’s hard to get a handle on Abbott Vaughn Meader’s body of work, owing, in part, to his habit of purging all of his albums every five years or so, never sticking with the same label and constantly recording.

He has been featured on about 30 albums total, some comedy, some music. Sheila Meader – in addition to trying to save his tracks from the bonfires – is hoping for help finding one 45 single that never hit the mass market.

It was recorded just before John F. Kennedy’s death and intended for Christmas release. On one side is Meader doing the voice of Kennedy reading daughter Caroline the White House version of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” On the flip side, Meader’s talking with Santa Claus about how to run the North Pole.

DJs got advance promo copies to play in November 1963, but after the assassination, the run was scrapped.

No amount of eBaying has turned it up yet. “We would love to have a copy of that,” she said.

A partial listing of Meader albums (all but the last two listed are comedy):

“The First Family”

“The First Family Vol. 2”

“Have Some Nuts”

“If the Shoe Fits”

“Take That!”

“The Second Coming”

“The First Family Rides Again”

“The Last Word”

“Boots and Saddles”

“Whatever Happened to Vaughn Meader”
