OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, for the annual Thanksgiving meeting at the American Legion Hall, Route 121.

There will be a bakeless bake sale and a dinner put on by the Rock-O-Dundee Snowmobile Club. Cost will be $6.50. Members are asked to bring their own place setting. New members and guests are welcome.

Ecumenical service planned

FRYEBURG – The annual Fryeburg Area Churches Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the Church of the New Jerusalem (aka the Fryeburg New Church), 12 Oxford St. All are welcome to the service of thanks through song, scripture and prayer.

Anyone who would like to be part of the combined choir led by Laurie Turley can attend rehearsals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the church. For information call 935-3413.

Post 151 meeting notes

WEST PARIS – Ring McKeen Post 151, American Legion, and Auxiliary will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Finnish-American Hall, Maple Street, preceded by a 6:30 p.m. supper.

There will be a Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the West Paris Baptist Church.

The Agnes L. Gray School after-school program, “The After School Explorers,” is active. There are several openings for young people interested. Call 674-2332.

Snowmobilers selling tickets

PARIS – The Maine Snowmobile Association Super Raffle tickets will be sold from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at the H&R Block parking lot, South Paris, by the Snow Hoppers Snowmobile Club of South Paris.

Prizes include five 2005 snowmobiles, 19 two-night getaways, 14 overnight getaways or 25 gift certificates ranging from $50 to $100. All snowmobiles being raffled will be on display. Proceeds will benefit state and local snowmobiling. The club will also have baked goods on sale.

The club will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the South Paris Fire Station, Western Avenue. A potluck supper will start at 6:30 p.m. with a business meeting to follow. All are welcome. Call President Peter Bickford at 743-8526 for details.

UCC churches plan joint service

WATERFORD – The Waterford, North Waterford, Stoneham and Sweden UCC churches will join at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, for a service of thanksgiving at the Waterford Congregational Church, foot of Plummer Hill Road. The Revs. Anita White and Earl Bell will lead the service, and a joint choir from the participating churches will sing. Everyone is invited.

Thanksgiving dinner announced

NORWAY – St. Catherine’s Church and Christ Episcopal Church will offer a free Thanksgiving day dinner at noon Thursday, Nov. 25, at St. Catherine’s Church, corner of Paris and Beal streets. Those wishing to reserve a space should call 743-2606.

Duplicate Bridge results listed

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge met Friday at the Fare Share Food Coop Commons. Winners for the morning were: first, Pete Cummings and Dick Allen; second, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; third, Les Buzzell and Mimi Bell; fourth, Eleanor Griffin and Jim Dickens. Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge meets every Friday at 9 a.m. and is open to any bridge player. A partner is guaranteed or bring another bridge friend.
