WINTHROP – Richard Allan Pratt, 60, of Soper Road, died Saturday, Nov. 20, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 27, 1944, the son of Marshall and Gladys (Thompson) Pratt.

He was a lifetime resident of Winthrop, where he graduated from Winthrop High School in 1962.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg and served with the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers during the Dominican Republic Crisis. He was also a mill worker for 23 years at International Paper in Jay.

He was the Men’s Co-Chair of the Winthrop Bicentennial; was a past member of the Volunteer Fire Department and the Winthrop American Legion; a past member and 3rd degree Mason of Temple 25, Winthrop; and an active member of the Maine Pigeon Association, the National Rifle Association and the Iris Association.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting and gardening. He shared his love of the outdoors with his daughters.

Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lynda Pratt, of Winthrop; his mother Gladys Pratt, of Winthrop; two daughters, Heidi Bechard and her husband, Corey, of Augusta; Michelle Urso and her husband, Gary, of Winthrop; brothers, Marshall Pratt Jr. and his wife, Ida, of Tuso Rivers, Wis., and Carlton Pratt and his wife, Jean, of Winthrop; a sister Marilyn Morin, of Winthrop; a granddaughter, Pearl Bechard, of Augusta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Marshall Pratt; and a brother-in-law, Roger Morin.
