ORONO (AP) – Kevin Reed scored 17 points – including hitting five of eight 3-point attempts – to lead Maine to a 73-60 win over Stony Brook on Sunday.
Maine (7-4, 2-0 America East Conference ) built a 13-0 lead to start the game, holding Stony Brook scoreless for the first 5:30.
Stony Brook (5-6, 0-2) closed to within 26-21 by halftime, but the Black Bears started the second half with a 9-2 run, before extending the lead to double digits.
Ernest Turner chipped in with 14 points, while Chris Bruff had 13 and Mark Flavin 10 for Maine.
Antwan Hardy poured in a game-high 20 points for the Seawolves.
Cory Spencer added 11, all in the second half after he sat out most of the first in foul trouble.
