RUMFORD – SeniorsPlus held a volunteer appreciation celebration on Dec. 15 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall to recognize volunteers from Franklin and Northern Oxford counties and the contributions they make to the SeniorsPlus community services.

There were more than 90 volunteers in attendance, with special certificates given to Work Opportunities Unlimited, Work First Inc., the Oxford County ARC and Learning Enrichment Advancing People.

A special recognition award went to Julie Richard of Work Opportunities, who saved a senior’s life while on her rounds delivering “Meals on Wheels.”

Entertainment was provided by Silver and Gold, and door prizes were presented courtesy of area businesses.

SeniorsPlus, the local area agency on aging, serves Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties, providing services designed to enrich the lives of seniors. Through programs such as Meals on Wheels, Partners in Caring and Elder Independence of Maine’s Home Care Services, SeniorsPlus is dedicated to helping seniors navigate the aging process.
