DIXFIELD – River Valley officials, department heads and residents will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, in the community room of Dirigo High School.

Dixfield Town Manager Nanci Allard said 10 towns are invited to share ideas on how the area can work together to save money and improve efficiency.

She said ideas such as establishing a central location for emergency services, combining police departments, sharing services and equipment, and joining together for purchases will be discussed.

Other areas that may be considered include sharing animal control and code enforcement officers, water and sewer districts and road construction and maintenance.

Everything is up for discussion, she said.

Allard said she and Mexico town manager’s assistant David Errington submitted an application for a $10,000 state planning grant. It would be used to hire a consultant who would be a neutral party to study areas where savings and efficiencies could be found.

She said she is also looking into how better to work with the River Valley Growth Council for the benefit of the area.
