LEWISTON – Advocates for Children will offer a “1,2,3,4 Parents!” workshop from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. starting Tuesday, Feb. 1.

The class is a three-week interactive learning experience for parents of young children ages 1 through 4. It features video presentations, discussion, workbook activities and group activities.

Participants will learn the following fundamental skills: the importance of the parent’s self-esteem; the value of the child and the job of parenting; the basic developmental stages from ages 1 to 4; parental self-care; methods of bonding; nonviolent discipline skills; encouragement skills; and prevention techniques.

There is a fee of $10.95 for the parent handbook. To register for the class, people should call Advocates at 783-3990. Advocates for Children is a participating United Way agency and a recipient of the Lewiston Community Development Block Grant.
