LEWISTON – Jean G. Spriggs, 66, of 21 Leland St., Lewiston, died Friday evening Jan. 28, at her residence, following a long illness.

She was born in Rumford on Jan. 27, 1939, the daughter of Albert and Ardice Gallant Arnold.

She attended Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stevens High School in 1956. She then attended Beverly Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated in 1959. For 45 years she was employed as a nursing supervisor in hospitals in Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon and Alaska.

Jean loved playing cards, crocheting, going to the beach, traveling, going to the movies with her grandchildren, and most of all, loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Spriggs, whom she married on Aug. 31, 1984, of Lewiston; her mother-in-law, Joyce Allen, of Oregon; three daughters, Debbie Fournier and her husband, Dan, of Buxton, Wanda Cote and her husband, Richard, of Rumford, and Cindy Courchesne of Leeds; four grandchildren, Amanda Fournier, Dickie Cote and Katelyn and Zachary Courchesne; one sister, Joan Kasregis and her husband, Earle, of Roxbury; two nephews, Keith and David Kasregis; one niece, Kim Jacques; her aunt and uncle, Norbie and Sally Gallant, of Mexico; several cousins; and three dogs, Bandit, Rebel and Happy.
