STRONG – The Strong United Methodist Church will sponsor a community movie night at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the church parish hall. The film, “Snow Dogs,” will be shown. It is a free family event. Children will not be admitted without an adult. Snacks and beverages will be provided. In case of bad weather, the movie will be postponed until further notice.

Computer class

PHILLIPS – SAD 58 Adult and Community Education will offer a Part II to the computer class held recently on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Phillips School. The class was instructed by Tom Piekart.

The advanced court will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 8, and run on Feb. 10 and 15, March 1 and 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Computer II will cover the elements of PowerPoint, Intro to Excel and Intro to Web Page Design. The cost is $50.

Tutor training

FARMINGTON – Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset counties will present a Basic Reading Tutor Training Workshop from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays from March 8 through April 12. The workshop will be held at Madison Elementary School.

Literacy Volunteer workshops cover varied approaches to teaching reading and emphasize creating individualized learning plans for adult students.
