LEWISTON – During the harsh winter months seniors who might ordinarily be able to leave their homes cannot do so and may not be getting the nutrition they need to stay healthy. Through the Meals on Wheels program, SeniorsPlus has home-delivered meals available to eligible people in Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties.
In order to qualify for the meals, people must be at least 60, homebound, unable to prepare a meal and have no one to help with meal preparation. The Meals on Wheels program will provide a healthful, fully-prepared meal that meets at least one-third of the RDA.
Meals are by donation and envelopes are provided to protect privacy. For more information call a senior services specialist at 795-4010 or toll free at 1-800-427-1241.
SeniorsPlus, the local area agency on aging, serves Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties, providing services designed to enrich the lives of seniors. Through programs such as Meals on Wheels, Partners in Caring and Elder Independence of Maine’s Home Care Services, SeniorsPlus is dedicated to helping seniors navigate the aging process.
