Fishing derby set
BELGRADE – The Belgrade Lions Club is sponsoring its 21st annual Ice Fishing Derby on Sunday, Feb. 20. The derby (6 a.m. to 5 p.m.) will include all legal waters in Maine. Entry fee tickets are $5 (1 fish per ticket). Weigh-in will take place from 12 to 5 p.m. at Christy’s Country Store on Route 27.
It’s a free fishing day in Maine and no license will be needed.
First place pike award is $500 (a $500 bonus if over 20-pounds, and a $7,5000 bonus if a state record that is currently listed at 31.2-pounds). Second place pike award is $300, and third place $200. The angler landing the heaviest tagged pike will receive $100. There will be first and second place awards for other fish categories, $75 and $50.
