LEWISTON – Vicki Stuart, president, Ste. Croix Regional Federal Credit Union, has presented a $1,000 gift to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the new hospice house.

Construction on the 14-patient suite hospice house, on Stetson Road, Auburn, is well under way and opening is planned for the fall. The facility is specially designed to care for the needs of patients in the final weeks of life when hospice care at home is no longer possible.

To date, the Journey of Hope Campaign has received support from more than 1,320 individuals, foundations, businesses, civic and fraternal groups and expects to reach the $1.5 million goal by March.

“We are delighted to have the support of Ste. Croix Regional Federal Credit Union,” said David McDaniel, agency president/CEO.

“Having served Androscoggin County for many years, we know that when deciding which worthy community projects to support, the credit union keeps the best interests of their members in mind, and we are honored they have recognized our agency’s hospice house project as a valued community resource.”

Ste. Croix, 1,000 Lisbon St., is a full-service financial institution serving all who live or work in Androscoggin County.

Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice is a nonprofit Medicare-certified agency that annually provides comprehensive hospice care to more that 500 residents of central and western Maine. For more information, visit the Web site at www.ahch.org.
