LEWISTON – French language reacquisition workshops will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays, March 5, 12 and 19, at the Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s. Cost is $55 for the three sessions. The three-hour workshops will be held at the center at 46 Cedar St.

Julia Schulz, founder and director of the Center for Heritage Language Reacquisition at Penobscot School, will lead an introductory series of three workshops for Lewiston-Auburn and surrounding area Franco-Americans who were brought up speaking French in their homes, but who have lost the use of the language.

A minimum of 30 participants could be accommodated. Ideally, all participants will sign up for all three workshops in order to receive maximum benefit.

Schulz and co-facilitator will lead participants through activities using a variety of methods. Materials will include songs, stories, excepts from film, photos and family histories. Everyone is invited to reawaken the French in them.
