LEWISTON – Annie (Pulsifer) Gary, 92, of East Poland, died Friday, April 8, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a brief illness.

She was born June 24, 1912, in Poland, daughter of Clarence S. and Martha D. Pulsifer. She was married to Arthur Merwyn Gary and together they owned and operated Bailey Brothers General Store in East Poland for many years.

She was postmistress for 21 years in East Poland. She was also a charter member of Busy Bees, a member of the Minot Corner Methodist Church, Excelsior Grange and active in the Androscoggin County Cooperative Extension. Her favorite activities included making quilts and crafts for family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Harold Gary Sr. and his wife, Carlene, of East Poland; a sister, Marion Rowe of New Gloucester; three grandchildren, Penny Gary of Lewiston, Jeffrey Gary and his wife, Sany, of Auburn and Deane Gary and his girlfriend, Amy, of Brunswick; three great-grandchildren, Michael and Rachel Gary of Auburn and Cheyenne Gary of Bucksport; sister-in-law, Madline Pulsifer; brother-in-law, Willard Stone and his wife, Irene; brother-in-law, George Stone and his wife, Ginny; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, especially Mary Torrey.

She was predeceased by her husband, Merwyn, and brothers, Erland “Buster” Pulsifer and Carl Pulsifer.
