PARIS – Merry Shore will be the worship leader Sunday, April 24, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris. The service will begin at 10 a.m.
Shore’s sermon topic will be “Moving Ahead.” The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist, and Renee Wales will lead the Sunday School. Child Care is provided.
The Coffee Hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Benefit event
LOCKE MILLS – A benefit dance, supper and silent auction will be held for Kevin and Martha Roberts beginning with the auction at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at the Legion Hall. Music will be provided by the Slightly Touched band offering 50s, 60s, 70s Rock n Roll, and some new country from 8 p.m. to midnight. The supper will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for the supper are $6 for adults, $2.50 for ages 12 and under. Dance tickets are $16 per couple, $10 for singles. For more information, call 674-2346.
Cleaning up
Earth Day cleanup on all main streets throughout Oxford County will be held from 10 a.m. to dark Friday, April 22. Volunteers are needed to help spring clean main streets. For more information, call Joanna at 875-2368.
Open house
WATERFORD – In observance of National Grange Week, Waterford Grange 479 will hold an open house at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 25, at the Grange hall, Route 35, North Waterford. Refreshments will be served preceding the 7:30 p.m. meeting. The public is welcome. The Waterford Grange remains active under the leadership of Master Linda Hooker and welcomes visitors and anyone who desires to join the order.
Cemetery meeting
WEST PARIS – The Finnish Cemetery Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at the Mission Congregational Church on Church Street.
Reports will be given and election of officers held. Anyone with connections to the cemetery can attend the meeting.
AARP trip
OXFORD – The Oxford Hills AARP, friends and families are participating in a day trip on Thursday, May 5, to the Cole Land Transportation Museum in Bangor. After a buffet lunch at Miller’s Restaurant, the group will go to Augusta and have a guided tour of the Old Fort Western landmark and then on home.
The bus leaves the old Ames Plaza in Oxford at 7 a.m. and will be home at 6 p.m.
The cost is $48 per person and that includes the cost of the Cyr bus, the two museums and lunch.
Call Henrietta or Wally Taft at 743-6722 to put your name on the list and then send your deposit check for $30 to Walter Taft, 1024 Gore Road, Otisfield, ME 04270. Seating is assigned in order of deposit received.
Final payment of $18 is due April 28.
