Club to meet

AUBURN – The Frank W. Hulett VFW Auxiliary Past President’s Club met at the home of Joan Hebert on April 6. The centerpieces for the state convention were worked on and will be finished at the next meeting on Wednesday, May 4, at the home of Linda Pearl in Oxford. Plans will also be made for the annual summer outing in June when the club will recess for the summer.

Legion to elect

AUBURN – Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, and Auxiliary will meet Monday, May 9, at the post home, 426 Washington St. North. A social hour will start at 6 p.m. with a light lunch served by the auxiliary. Election of officers will be held for the Legion and auxiliary at 7 p.m. followed by the installation for the year 2006. For the auxiliary, Terri Owens will be the installing officer assisted by Edith Lemieux and Irene Irving. Dept. Commander William Gene Bickford will install the Legion, assisted by Gard Enman and Don Simoneau. All members, prospective members and active duty members are invited. Cemetery meeting

AUBURN – The annual meeting of the Mount Auburn Veterans’ Cemetery Association will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Auburn VFW 1603 Post Home, 588 Minot Ave. The main orders of business will be review of American flag placement on Memorial Day, the annual election of officers and other business concerning Auburn cemeteries and finalization of Memorial Day plans. All officers, members and Auburn veterans are welcome. All flags ordered for the Memorial Day celebration can be picked up at the Auburn VFW. Any organization unable to pick their flags up at that time may pick them up at the Auburn VFW from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

May fair

AUBURN – The Lake Street School annual May Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the school. Geared for the whole family, the fair will offer a variety of games and prizes, an obstacle course, a cake walk and face painting. In addition to a barbecue, plants and baked goods will be sold. All proceeds will benefit the school and its students. Everyone is invited.
