AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, 426 Washington St. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. There will be a raffle table. Bingo will be played after a bag lunch.

When the group met under the direction of President Dorothy Larrabee on April 27, there were 64 members present. Those having April birthdays were recognized. Trip Chairwoman Evelyn Sawin said she is open for suggestions for a bus trip for June or July, and has plans for a foliage trip in the fall.

Attendance prize winners were Roy Tassinari and Pat Donahue; pot of gold, Leota Seaward, Shirley Huntley and Wallace Dixon.

Seniors dinner

AUBURN – The New Auburn Senior Citizens will have a Chinese chop suey dinner with all the fixings at noon Wednesday, May 18, at the St. Louis Church basement. It is for members only and the cost is $3.

A meeting was held May 4 with President Virginia Levasseur presiding. May birthdays were noted and token gifts given. New members welcomed were Gilberte Letourneau and Pearl Routhier.

A display of members’ arts and crafts will be held on June 15 following dinner. Prizes will be awarded. A handmade 100 percent wool braided rug, 37 inches around, will be raffled. Tickets are $1 and the drawing will be held at the dinner.

There are seats left for the trip to Atlantic City from May 30 to June 2. Cost is $248 a person and there is a $45 bonus. Call Jean at 784-5264 if interested.

Pot of gold winners were Roland Roberge, Fern Delorme, Del Lavoie and Fidel Nadeau. A light lunch followed with bingo in the afternoon.

The next regular meeting will be June 1. Open bingo will be May 11 and 25 for seniors 60 and over.

Council meeting

AUBURN – Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America, will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Odd Fellows Hall, Elm Street. A potluck supper will follow the business meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Foster care

AUBURN – “Child Welfare in Maine Today: What is Foster Care?” will be the topic of a meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at 21 Beacon Ave. May is National Foster Care Month.

Speakers will be John Miller, assistant program manager for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Region II; Rosemary Hart, a former foster child; and Donna Warren, president of Tri County Foster Parent Association.

Robert W. Chapman, author of “A Certain Fall,” and Maine watercolorist Gene R. Fuller will be present. Books and prints of cover art will be available, and a percentage of all proceeds to be contributed to Tri County Foster Parent Association. For more information, call 783-7117.

Basketball fun

LEWISTON – Douglas and Sonia Taylor of the Jesus Party, 291 Bates St., are inviting children 5 years old and up to a special night of “Basketball Fun,” capitalizing on the recent excitement of the National Basketball Association playoff games.

On Sunday, May 15, at 5:30 p.m. children will view basketball bloopers and see a video, “Secret Adventures Slam'”, featuring former pro basketball star A.C. Green, with a message on overcoming challenges.
