OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Brady Blackman tossed a one-hitter to lift St. Dom’s to a 3-0 victory over Old Orchard Beach in a WMC baseball contest Wednesday.

Blackman (3-0) struck out 14 batters and did not walk anyone to earn the win for the Saints (7-0). Jon Rutt had an RBI single for St. Dom’s, and John Emerson also drove in a run.

Jesse Allen had the lone hit of the game for the Seagulls (6-2), a bloop single to right field that spoiled Blackman’s no-hit bid.

Lisbon 21, Wiscasset 11

LISBON FALLS — Mike Wilkins pitched two scoreless innings of relief and had four hits to pace Lisbon to a 21-11 romp over Wiscasset in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

Mason Lavers, Jacob Sprinkle and Levi Ervin each added two hits and three RBIs for the Greyhounds (3-7) in the winning effort.

Edward Little 7, Leavitt 1

TURNER – Matt Nadeau cleared the bases with a three-run triple in the first inning to spark Edward Little to a 7-1 victory over Leavitt.

The Hornets (2-8) hurt themselves by committing six errors. All three runs Nadeau knocked in were unearned.

Leavitt had an opportunity to get back in the game when it loaded the bases with no outs in its half of the first, but EL pitcher Kyle Giguere escaped the jam with no runs.

Kevin Pontbriand had two hits for the Red Eddies (5-3).

Lewiston 9, Medomak 0

WALDOBORO — Luke Potter held Medomak Valley to two hits over seven innings Wednesday to lead Lewiston to a 9-0 victory.

Potter struck out 10 and walked two hitters to earn the win for the Blue Devils (4-5). Nate Gruv’s double was the only extra base hit in the game.

Chris Mitchell allowed three runs in three innings for the Panthers (3-6).

Jay 5, Boothbay 0

JAY — Steve Nelson blanked Boothbay through seven strong innings to pitch Jay to a 5-0 shutout victory over Jay in MVC baseball matchup Wednesday afternoon.

Nelson struck out five and walked four to earn the win for the Tigers (5-4). Jay received RBIs from Steve Nelson, Justin Wells and Jake Farrington.

Chad Latter matched Nelson’s five strikeouts but surrendered five runs in six innings for the Seahawks (3-5).

Winthrop 6, Dirigo 5

WINTHROP — Russ Schmelze smashed a double to help Winthrop to a hard fought 6-5 victory over Dirigo.

Forrest Dwyer pitched a complete game to earn the win for the Ramblers (6-2). Tavis Hasenfuss contributed offensively with a pair of hits.

Jon Robbins went 3-for-4 with a triple for the Cougars (4-5).

Hebron 15, Gould 0

HEBRON – Brandon Rolfe had three RBIs and scored once to lead Hebron to a 15-0 win over Gould.

Michael Turk and Ryan Sheehan chipped in for Hebron (3-0) with two hits apiece. Turk scattered two hits in seven inings.

Thatcher Stone allowed four earned runs for Gould.

Poland 4, Wells 3

POLAND – Tyler Merchant executed a perfect suicide squeeze with one-out and the bases loaded in the seventh inning to plate Jeremy Callahan with the winning run to lift Poland to a 4-3 victory over Wells.

Curtis Haslip scored the tying run in the sixth on Keegan Fennessey’s single. After Callahan reached on an error and advanced to third on a sacrifice, the Knights (8-1) loaded the bases on when Max Levine singled and Alex Smith walked, setting up Merchant’s heroics.

Poland took an early 2-0 lead on Joe Douglass’ double, but Wells scored three in the sixth to take the lead.

Mt. Abram 15, Madison 11

SALEM – Mt. Abram survivied an eight-run first inning defict – all scored before an out was recorded – and a 45-minute rain delay to outlast Madison 15-11 in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

Sam Witherspoon was the main offensive weapon with a triple, home run and three RBIs for the Roadrunners (5-4).

Lacrosse
St. Dom’s 9, York 7

AUBURN — Matt Manson netted a game-high three goals to lead St. Dom’s to a 9-7 triumph over York in WMC lacrosse action on Wednesday.

Kevin Laplante added two goals for the Saints (3-2), while Ben Shaw contributed a goal. Brian Kasabian was strong in the net for St. Dom’s, recording five saves.

With the loss, York fell to 2-5.
