FALMOUTH – Jason Lehr hit an RBI groundout that scored Curtis Haslip for the game-winning run as Poland defeated Falmouth 9-8 in varsity baseball action on Thursday.

Poland’s (9-1) Max Levine hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning that brought in Eric Picard and Jeremy Callahan. Keegan Fennessy pitched 6 and 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the win for the Knights.

Mike Webster scored two runs for Falmouth (4-5).

Mountain Valley 6, Wiscasset 3

WISCASSET – Marcus Palmer scattered nine hits and pitched six scoreless innings as Mountain Valley defeated Wiscasset 6-3 in a MVC baseball matchup on Thursday.

Shaun Marr, Andy Shorey and Korey Staires all tallied doubles for the Falcons (7-0).

Ben Matzell led the Redskins (4-4) with a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. Josh Ziegler and Zack Hartman joined Matzell with two hits on the day. Ben Emery handled pitching duties, holding the Falcons at bay the first three innings.

Lacrosse

Waynflete 11, St. Dom’s 10

AUBURN – Nate Johnson found the back of the net with under two minutes left, lifting Waynflete to a 11-10 victory over St. Dom’s to keep its undefeated lacrosse season intact.

Will Paradis had three goals while teammates T.C. Haffenretter, David Cutter and Johnson each scored twice for the Flyers (6-0).

The Monks were led by Kevin LaPlante who finished the match with four goals and Tyler Martin with three. Brian Kasabian was in net for St. Dom’s (3-3) and had eight saves.
