MEXICO – The Mexico United Church of Christ (UCC), also called “the Green Church,” 163 Main St., invites the community to come share in “A Concert at the Green” with their senior choir and the guest musicians of the Mahoosuc Community Band of Bethel at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 22.

A freewill offering will be taken to defray music expenses for the band, with half going toward the church’s “Raise the Roof Fund” work to begin in July.

The Mahoosuc Community Band is comprised of about 30 members who practice in Bethel, but has drawn, for the past 10 years, members from a much larger region. The band has adults and student musicians whose goal is “to just have fun and play music together.”

Under the direction of Patricia Boyle-Wight, music for the concert will include “Tijuana Brass in Concert,” “El Capitan” by John Phillips Sousa, the “Stray Cat Strut” and many other favorites. The Mexico UCC’s senior choir will sing several songs and there may possibly be a singing surprise from the Snapp-Cunningham family.
