PORTLAND – Daniel S. Miles, 52, a resident of Carleton Street, a former Summer Street in Auburn resident, died Monday, May 30, at Maine Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston, on Nov. 18, 1952, the son of Donald and Evelyn (Anderson) Miles. He attended Auburn schools and was an Edward Little graduate of the Class of 1971. He also attended Portland Adult Education.

Prior to his illness, he was employed as a convenience store manager in Portland.

His interests included collecting antiques, NASCAR racing, the ocean, and he was very family-orientated.

He was a U.S. Air Force member during the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1974.

He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Brown; his father, Donald Miles; his stepmother, Myra Miles, all of Auburn; two brothers, Michael of Westbrook and his companion, Colleen O’Connell, of Freedom; Rick and his wife, Betty, of Auburn; four sisters, Patricia and her husband, Richard Doucette, of Hopkinton, Mass.; Janet Miles of Lewiston; and her companion, Tom Wylie, of Livermore; Kimberley and her husband, Jeffrey Cantrell, of Yorba Linda, Calif.; Christine Miles of Riverside, Calif.; and three nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert K. Miles, in 1955.
