RUMFORD – Expressive Movement Performing Arts Center announces the annual performing arts recital to be held at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4, in Muskie Auditorium at Mountain Valley High School.

This year’s recital will feature dances choreographed by Debbie Murphy and Dariane Dunn in tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, ballet and flamenco.

An original play, written and directed by Thea Dunn, will be performed by a 25-member cast.

This year’s production includes acting, vocal and dance students from the surrounding areas of Dixfield, Canton, Mexico, Rumford, Peru and Bethel.

The play, “The Theater of the Lost and Found,” involves three gypsies who are intent upon breaking the 100-year-old curse of the evil theater owner, Lucas Snidely Crutch, and restoring “life” to the long lost Theater of the Lost and Found.

They are unwittingly assisted by three teens who are trying to gain a refined fashion sense and be inducted into the ranks of the Debutantes of High Society and Big Hair. The prestigious sisterhood is sponsored by Miss Josephine Crutch, owner and operator of Miss Crutch’s School of Manners, Etiquette and Big Hair (a finishing school for young girls).

Tickets may be purchased at the door.
