LEWISTON – James J. Galipeau, 60, of Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 4, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston, on July 18, 1944, the son of Leonard and Marie-Ange (Turgeon) Galipeau, and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He was educated in Lewiston schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School. He also graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1981.

He was employed as a laborer at Anthoine Rubber Co., for many years, until his retirement.

He was a veteran of the U.S Navy.

He enjoyed reading and spending quality time with his granddaughters and great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, the former Rita C. Dubois, whom he married on March 31, 1967, of Lewiston; two daughters, Susan Lizotte and her companion, Donna Lee Blanchette, of Woolwich, and Elaine Roy and her husband, Denis, of Lewiston; two granddaughters, Rena Fraiser and her husband, Nathan, of Bath, and Katelyn Roy of Lewiston; one great-granddaughter, Violet Fraiser of Bath; three brothers, Richard Galipeau and his wife, Tina, of Texas, Roger Galipeau and his wife, Janice, of Old Town, and Bertrand Galipeau and his wife, Sheryl, of Farmington; one sister, Fleurette Evers and her husband, Bill, of Florida; three aunts, Betty Galipeau Tufts of Greene, Mariette Turgeon Doucette and her husband, Wally, of Poland Spring, and Therese Lacombe Turgeon of Auburn; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
