ARLINGTON, Texas – Bartolo Colon won his 10th straight start against Texas, and Vladimir Guerrero homered to help the Los Angeles Angels extend their winning streak to seven with a 13-3 victory over the Rangers on Monday night.

Adam Kennedy hit his first home run of the season, and Juan Rivera had four hits for the Angels.

Colon (10-4) threw 66 of his 87 pitches for strikes to beat Texas for the third time this year, and ninth time since joining the Angels before last season. He struck out five with no walks and scattered eight hits, then was replaced by Jake Woods to start the ninth.

Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and pair of RBI doubles, and has hit in all 28 games he’s played against the Rangers – the longest active hitting streak by any player against one team. He is batting .431 (50-for-116) in his career against Texas, all the games coming since he left Montreal to join the Angels last season.

Los Angeles matched its season high with 20 hits. Eight starters had at least two hits, with Rivera going 4-for-5 with three doubles and an RBI single. Darin Erstad had two doubles.

Hank Blalock went 3-for-4 with two homers to account for all the runs for Texas, which has lost seven of eight.

The Angels’ winning streak began with a three-game sweep of second-place Texas last week. They have a 7-game lead in the AL West, their largest since Aug. 31, 1995.

Just as in all three games last week, the Angels went ahead to stay with multiple runs in the first inning. Los Angeles scored 11 first-inning runs in the last series.

After Chone Figgins drew a leadoff walk against rookie C.J. Wilson (0-2), Erstad and Guerrero had consecutive doubles. Guerrero scored on a double-play grounder to make it 3-0.

Colon struck out his first three batters, and besides Blalock’s two homers, allowed six singles. He is 15-5 career against the Rangers, the last loss coming in 2003 when he was still pitching for the Chicago White Sox.

The Angels didn’t get another hit until Garret Anderson led off the fourth with a single. Rivera then doubled before Maicer Izturis had a two-run single.

Wilson gave up seven runs – five earned – and eight hits in 4 2-3 innings. He got three double-play grounders, but Los Angeles scored on two of those.

Kennedy hit a two-run shot in the sixth before Guerrero’s second RBI double. Kennedy added a sacrifice fly in the seventh, and an inning later Guerrero lined his 12th homer over the right-field fence.

Notes: C Bengie Molina was sent back to the team hotel with flulike symptoms before the game, and Jose Molina started in his place. Jose Molina was the only Angels starter without a hit. … It was Blalock’s first multihomer game this season, and fifth of his career. He has 14 homers this year.
