NORWAY – There will be a memorial celebration at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the Second Congregational Church for the life of Dr. Robert Bates Funch, longtime summer visitor and energetic resident of Norway.

Funch practiced radiology at Stephens Memorial Hospital after he and his wife, Beatrice, moved here in 1977. The Funchs were active at the Second Congregational Church, being especially involved in “Christmas in a Small Town” productions every year. Funch was the first director of the English Handbell Choir at the church.

The church choir will sing specially requested songs at the service and welcomes all who would like to sing with them to honor and remember Funch.

There will be a singing rehearsal for the service at 7 p.m. Wednesday June 29, at the church music room.
