FARMINGTON – A total of 23 cats are celebrating their one-year anniversary at the Franklin County Animal Shelter this summer. To honor their long-term residency, the shelter will hold a birthday bash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Meetinghouse Park.

Several of the birthday cats will be on site for the public to meet, in addition to balloons and face-painting for the children, a bake sale to benefit the shelter and several craft and food vendors.

Staff will be available to answer questions about the cats, the shelter or the adoption process. All are invited. Those with questions about the birthday bash are welcome to call the shelter at 778-2638.

The shelter will be closed on Aug. 13 so all of the staff can be at the park. The animal shelter is normally open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and closed Sundays and major holidays.
