SABATTUS – One man was bitten by a dog, another was stabbed in the eye with a key, and a woman suffered an unspecified injury in a Tuesday evening fracas on Cross Road.

Police from three agencies went to two different homes to separate combatants and get help for the wounded after the fight was reported about 7:45 p.m.

One man was taken to a Lewiston hospital with a serious dog bite to the back of his leg, police said. Another man was taken to a different hospital with an injury to his eye. Police described the woman’s wound as minor.

Sabattus and Lisbon police as well as Androscoggin County sheriff’s deputies went to 71 Cross Road after receiving a report of a large brawl. One of the injured was found at another home a short distance down the road.

It was unclear how many people were involved in the melee or what led to the fight. Police did not identify any of those involved.

“Right now, the investigation is in its infancy,” said Sabattus police Officer Ralph Destefano.

Police were speaking with witnesses at 71 Cross Road and searching for evidence in the yard and in a large garage next to the home.

Cross Road is off Route 9 between Route 126 and Crowley Road.
