AUBURN – The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer a preview of its Performance Management Certificate Program from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at the college. The preview is free and human resource professionals, business owners, managers and supervisors are encouraged to attend. A light breakfast will be provided.

Interested participants are asked to register with the Corporate and Community Services Department by calling 207-755-5280 or 1-800-891-2002 extension 280, or by e-mail training@cmcc.edu or visit www.cmcc.edu/training by Sept. 2. The certificate program itself will be held from Sept. 27 to Oct. 18.

This program focuses on the manager’s role in improving employee performance. As the manager, supervisor or leader of a work group or team, performance leaders help others do the work that ultimately makes an organization successful. Performance leaders are responsible for guiding and directing the performance of their employees. To accomplish this, they must ensure employee performance aligns with the direction and strategy of the organization.

The preview will be facilitated by Debra Mattson Gouzie, who has nearly 10 years experience working with adult learners as a coach, program designer/evaluator, workforce development trainer and higher education teacher. She earned a master’s degree in business from Husson College in 1996 and a master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine in adult education in 2003. In addition to providing workforce development training through the Maine Community Colleges, she teaches courses in Business Management and Customer Relationship Management.

Central Maine Community College provides custom training programs for business, government, nonprofit and other organizations throughout Androscoggin, Oxford, Franklin and Lincoln counties.
