ORONO (AP) – Maine goaltender Ben Bishop allowed an early first period goal Friday but otherwise stymied Denver, leading his team to a 5-1 win.

With Denver (0-1) up 1-0 late in the second period, Maine (2-1) scored twice in a 49-second span to shift momentum. Josh Soares tipped a waist-high pass from Keenan Hobson at 14:45 on the power play.

Less than a minute later, Michel Leveille won a face-off to teammate Greg Moore to the right of the Denver goal. Moore skated in and stuffed the eventual game-winner past goaltender Glenn Fisher.

Jon Jankus added a goal 4:34 into the third and Leveille and Derek Damon tacked on goals in the final minute.

Ryan Helgason scored for Denver at 8:07 of the first on a two-on-one breakaway with teammate T.J. Fast.
