WATERVILLE – Nick Kehoe passed for 196 yards and two touchdowns and Mark Hannon caught five passes for 142 yards to lead Amherst to a 28-9 victory over Colby on Saturday.

Colby (3-1) took a 2-0 lead with a safety in the first quarter when a snap from center went over the punter’s head and out of the end zone. The Mules took a 9-0 lead on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Justin Smith to Roddy Ames with 2:20 left in the half.

But Amherst (3-1) came back in the third quarter when Kehoe connected with Hannon on a 78-yard touchdown pass with 12:19 left in the period. Hannon ran 46 yards for a touchdown less than three minutes later.

Kehoe tossed a 30-yard touchdown pass to Justin Macione with 7:10 left in the third, and Eric NeSmith finished off the scoring with a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter.
