Just what is beginning band? It is a program that teaches kids to learn and develop skills with their first band instrument. They can then move on to regular band. Mrs. Sarah Drewal, the 6 year band teacher, commented: “I alone did not come up with the idea. I had help from administration.”
Instruments in beginning band are the saxophone, flute and trombone. Beginning band is held during the students’ study hall period.
Mrs. Drewal commented that this is acceptable because this is only the first year for beginning band.”These kids will not be performing in concerts until they are ready to go into regular band,” Mrs. Drewal finished.
