Flu clinics

AUBURN – The Auburn Health Department, in partnership with Central Maine Medical Center, will hold flu clinics on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and Monday, Dec 12, at Auburn Hall.

Appointments are required to ensure that there is enough vaccine available and to minimize waiting times. Priority for appointments will be given to seniors, children and anyone who cares for high-risk people. The pneumococcal vaccine will also be available and is recommended for anyone 65 years of age and older.

Donations of $5 will be accepted to cover the cost of materials. To make an appointment, call 333-6601, ext. 1413 or 1412, or e-mail [email protected].

Church events

TURNER – Turner Village Church has planned Christmas activities to which the public is invited.

There will be an adult Christmas party at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. Those attending are asked to bring a item from around the house and spare change. A Chinese auction will benefit the Angel Tree that provides Christmas gifts to families of prisoners.

Community Christmas Caroling will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 14. Those going should meet at 6:30 p.m. at the church. There will be refreshments at the church after.

A children’s Sunday school presentation will be held and the adult choir will perform at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. There will also be a Christmas message, “Happy Holidays and a Blessed Christmas.”

A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. Pastor Nate will share the story behind a favorite Christmas carol.

The Christmas morning service will feature a drama presentation of “The Giving Tree” at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. It will take the place of Sunday school and the 10:30 service.

100th birthday

GREENE – Five generations were on hand to celebrate the 100th birthday of Verna Coady recently. The party was held at the Coady family home and family and friends gathered from Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine. One of her grandsons traveled from Saudi Arabia to attend.

Coady was born in Greene, Oct. 26, 1905, the daughter of Fred and Florence (Rose) Wheeler. She is the holder of the Boston Post gold-headed cane as the oldest resident of Greene.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Nov. 21 were: N/S, first, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; second, Linda Leotsakos and Nancy Glusker; third, Pete Cummings and Cynthia Bonsey; second in B, Allie Boyer and Barbara Beegel.

E/W winners were: first, Renette and Joe Reinhardt; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Luke Merry; third, Helen Little and Alberta Turner; first in B, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; second in B, Betty and Doug Sise.
