GRAY – A free winter emergencies presentation and discussion will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Gray Region Citizen Corps meeting at Stimson Hall. Those attending will learn how to be prepared for winter emergencies.

Brad Rounds of the American Red Cross will lead the session. He is also a Registered Maine Guide and is the education director for the Maine Association for Search and Rescue.

The corps encourages residents to answer a skills survey available in the lobby of the Gray Public Safety Building. During a regional disaster such as Ice Storm 1998, residents in the database can be contacted to help neighbors.

Volunteer skills are needed for tasks ranging from delivering groceries to taking care of pets. The corps is in need of members.

It provides monthly safety and emergency preparedness seminars, generally on the second Friday of the month, to residents from Yarmouth to Casco.
