WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Michael Wayne Herrick, 60, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, Dec. 7, at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
He was born Aug. 25, 1945, in Mechanic Falls, Maine, to the late Everett and Irene Herrick. He attended Mechanic Falls High School. He succeeded his father as fire chief, third generation.
He enjoyed fishing and camping, and loved to travel. He had a great love for West Virginia and he loved his many family and friends. Everyone who knew Michael loved him. He had a great sincere love for children and animals and all aspects of the fire department.
Survivors include his two loving sisters, Veronica (Walter) Lowe of Mechanic Falls, and Dorothy (George) Metivier of Newport News, Va.; one brother, Greg (Doris) Herrick of Poland, Me.; his good friend, Terry McNeil of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and many lifelong friends in Winston-Salem.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Herrick.
