Women to meet
PARIS – The Christian Women United will meet Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the First Congregational Church, South Paris. Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be Ruth Maruca of South Paris. Music will be presented by Group of New Life for Girls. Those who have not been contacted, but would like a reservation may call Pearl Anderson at 743-5724.
Sweetheart dance
PARIS – A Sweetheart Supper and Dance will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at the American Legion Hall, Church Street, South Paris. The menu will include ham with all the fixings. Music will be by the Country Lads.
The supper will be from 5 to 6 p.m. and dance 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Supper will be $6; dance, $4; combination, $8.
Beekeeper school
RUMFORD – The Western Maine Beekeepers Association will hold its annual beekeeping school starting Wednesday, Jan. 18. Registration will be held at 6 p.m. at Mountain Valley High School.
Classes will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays for 12 weeks. Area beekeepers will teach the sessions. The cost of $25 includes books and handouts. Throughout the summer, club members hold open hive meetings to demonstrate the application of the information that was presented in class.

Benefit supper
HARRISON – A benefit smorgasbord supper for Mr. and Mrs. Walter Connell, owners of Connell’s Auto Collection and Recycling, will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the American Legion Hall.
Their garage, tools, equipment and computer were destroyed by fire Jan. 5. They had no insurance. Anyone who would like to donate a casserole or salad should call Marilyn Ramsay at 743-5723. The supper is being sponsored by friends and family.
