BRUNSWICK – Therese Louise Robert Nadeau passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 14, at her home in Brunswick, comforted by her family and caretakers. An adored mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she will be terribly missed by those whose lives she touched with grace, dignity and humor.

Born in Lewiston on Jan. 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Louis Robert and Philomene Cote. A resident of Lewiston for 79 years, she moved to Brunswick in 2003 to be near her daughter and family.

She spent her summers at the family cottage on Bailey Island. As a student, she attended St. Peter’s School (1938), Lewiston High School (1942) and Farmington State Teacher’s College with a degree in home economics education (1946). Her high school and college involvements were many, including vice president of her class, national honor society, cheerleader and member of several clubs and organizations.

She married Paul E. Nadeau on Nov. 22, 1951, at Saints Peter and Paul Basilica. She worked as a home economics teacher at Lewiston High School for 30 years, retiring in 1988 as department head.

Throughout her lifetime, she was involved in numerous organizations and societies. They included Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Androscoggin Retired Teachers Association, Ladies of Ste. Anne, Holy Family Parish Council, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, Maine Education Association and Women’s Literary Union. As a retiree, she volunteered her time and talents at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston and more recently at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick.

She spent the last several winters vacationing in Florida with her sister, Simone Marcous and her family. She attended Saints Peter and Paul Basilica and Holy Family Church in Lewiston, and St. John’s Catholic Church in Brunswick. Therese will forever be remembered for her grace, sophistication, personal strength, generous spirit and dedicated devotion to her family.

She has two children, Dr. Paul H. Nadeau, married to Marion Thom of Kintore, Scotland, and Louise A. (Nadeau) Everett married to Elbert Everett of Helena, Ark. She has three loving grandchildren, John Paul Everett of Brunswick, and Christina and Thomas Nadeau of Stavnager, Norway.

She was predeceased in 1991 by her loving husband of 40 years, Paul E. Nadeau; and two sisters, Marcelle Fortin of Montreal, Canada, in 2002, and Simone Marcous of Altamonte Springs, Fla. , in 2004.
