LEWISTON – Sisters of Charity Health System, in partnership with the American Red Cross, will sponsor a Family Caregiving Program, designed to help individuals provide the best care possible for a loved one, starting Tuesday, Feb. 7.

The nine-part series will help educate individuals on caregiving skills, including how to reduce stress; understanding legal, financial and medical issues; and balancing their responsibilities.

The sessions will take place in the Club 50 Room (across from St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center on Campus Avenue).

Classes will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. as follows:

Feb. 7, “General Caregiving Skills,” Dr. Nedaa Skeik, Sabattus Street Primary Care.

Feb. 21, “Positioning and Movement,” Cheryl Dobblestyn, d’Youville rehab services.

March 7, “Assisting with Personal Care,” Janet Robinson, CNA, d’Youville Pavilion.

March 21, “Healthy Eating,” Jennifer Williams, nutrition services.

April 4, “Caring for the Caregiver,” Debra Fournier, administrator at d’Youville Pavilion;

April 18, “Legal and Financial Issues,” Dan d’Auteuil, Isaacson and Raymond.

May 2, “Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregiving,” Dr. Karim Yacoub.

May 16, “HIV/AIDS,” Leisha Lema, Tri-County.
