AUGUSTA – Greg Sweetser, executive director of Ski Maine and a longtime promoter of Maine’s ski industry, was presented with the Maine Tourism Award for Recreation Suppliers during a ceremony at the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism at the Augusta Civic Center.
The awards, sponsored by the Maine Office of Tourism and the Maine Tourism Commission, are presented to those who lead by example. Nominated by their peers in the tourism industry, the individuals and businesses honored at the conference luncheon were selected in a juried process.
Jack Cashman, commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, presented Sweetser with a slate rendering of the state of Maine, hand crafted in Maine from Monson slate.
Sweetser, who has headed Ski Maine since 1996, was previously director of marketing for Saddleback Ski Area and president of Ski Maine’s board of directors.
He is on the boards of WinterKids, the Maine Tourism Association, and the Ski Museum of Maine, and is a member of the Maine Tourism Commission, serving as co-chairman of the Strategic Marketing Committee.
