RUMFORD – The wearing of the green will be celebrated at the Rumford Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall on Waldo Street from 1 to 6 p.m., Saturday, March 18.
“This is just to have a good time,” said Lucien Arsenault, organizer of the event.
Toe-tapping Irish and Scottish folk music and Acadian reels and jigs, along with some country music, will be performed by Noel Palmer and Don Levesque.
The cooks at the hall will prepare Irish stew for $3 a bowl.
A 50/50 raffle will be held along with a drawing for a St. Patrick’s Day quilt stitched by Theresa Broomhall.
The colorful quilt, which can be seen in the window of Davis Florist on Congress Street, is created in shades of green and features hundreds of shamrocks and leprechaun hats.
The event, which is the first St. Patrick’s Day party to be held at the VFW, is open to members and guests.
