WINCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – More than 200 customers of a Winchester home heating contractor who have been waiting for oil deliveries instead have received letters telling them the company is going bankrupt.

Michael Higgins first came under scrutiny earlier this month when customers started calling police saying they weren’t getting the oil they had paid for.

David Solin of Keene says he paid Higgins to fill his 600-gallon tank but hasn’t seen or heard from Higgins since December, when he received 200 gallons.

Higgins told The Sentinel newspaper two weeks ago that has been having trouble with his delivery trucks but hoped to start delivering again last week. He filed for bankruptcy a few days later.
