JAY – Arlene Couture Doiron, 68, of Juniper Road, Jay, died Saturday afternoon, March 4, at her home, with her family by her side.

She was born on July 12, 1937, in Jay, the daughter of Josephate and Mary Blanche Bizier Couture, and stepfather, Joseph Gregoire.

She was a graduate of Jay High School, Class of 1956.

On Nov. 30, 1957, she married Norman Doiron at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. They were married 48 years.

Arlene was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked at Hannafords, and Norwalk Shoe, and for several years, had cared for many children in her home.

She was a proud grandmother, who enjoyed her time with her two granddaughters. She was very family-oriented and would arrange get-togethers, always keeping connected with her siblings and extended family in Canada.

She loved to cook, enjoyed knitting, having made several afghans, and also took great care of her three Persian cats.

Arlene was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and a proud member of the Resurrection Choir.

She is survived by her husband, Norman, of Jay; a son and his wife, Steven and Jayne Doiron of Jay; three brothers and their wives, Leopold Couture of Jay, Real and Florence Couture of Jay, and Rene and Joyce Couture of Jay; a sister, Jeanne d’Arc Tardif of Jay; two granddaughters, Kelsey and Julianne Doiron of Jay; and many nieces and nephews.
