Preregistration
MEXICO – SAD 43 parents/guardians with children who will be 5 on or before Oct. 15 are asked to call their neighborhood school to preregister their child for kindergarten from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by April 14.
Formal registration and screening will take place at the superintendent’s office at 3 Recreation Drive. The dates for registration/screening are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, for students who will attend Rumford Elementary School: from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, for students who will attend Meroby Elementary School; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 11, for students who are unable to attend the two previous dates.
Parents should allow one hour for the appointment. They need to bring an original birth certificate from the town where the child was born, immunization information and the child’s social security card.
Accepting students
RUMFORD – St. Athanasius and St. John School is accepting registration for the upcoming school year. Preschool is offered on a two-, three-, four- or five-day-a-week schedule, half and full days.
The school offers a full-day kindergarten through grade eight program. Pre-school and kindergarten programs are tax deductible. Those who would like a tour or more information should call 364-2528.
Daffodils ready
RUMFORD – For those who forgot to order daffodils in advance of the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days campaign, Hannaford’s will sell bouquets of 10 from March 23 to 26 or while supplies last for a $7 donation. All proceeds will be given to the American Cancer Society.
Funds raised during Daffodil Days support the society’s programs and services. The goal for Maine for this year is $250,000.
