AUBURN – The 2006 Pitch, Hit & Run Program for youngsters ages 7-14 is scheduled for May 13 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Lower Pettengill Field at Pettengill Park. The Auburn Parks and Recreation Department and Republic Jewelry & Coin Company are sponsoring the event. There will be 4 different age groups, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14.

Participants will have a chance to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Pitching will consist of 6 throws at a designated strike zone target; hitting is 3 hits from a stationary tee; and running is from second base to home plate for time.

There is no entry fee. To register call the Auburn Recreation Department at 784-0191.

Recruits are sought

MARIETTA, Ohio – Coast To Coast Baseball is recruiting amateur ballplayers (ages 16-19) to represent the USA in international competition in Australia.

Players selected will compete against Australian all-star teams during the Adelaide Friendship Series, July 4-17, 2006.

The 14-day trip is packed with intensive training, games and cultural excursions. At least 10 games are scheduled.
