POLAND – Will Griffiths hit a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh inning to plate the winning run as Poland came from behind to edge Yarmouth 8-7 in WMC baseball action Monday.

Griffiths also pitched the final two innings for the Knights and earned the win.

Tyler Merchant went 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles for Poland (1-0), and Joe Douglass hit a solo home run.

Robb Arndt had a pair of hits, including a double, and Chan Arndt also had a two-bagger for the Yachtsmen (1-2). Jameson Buck took the loss in relief.

Lisbon 13, Boothbay 1

LISBON FALLS – Mike Wilkins hit a bases-loaded double for three RBI in an eight-run fourth inning as Lisbon blasted Boothbay 13-1 in MVC baseball action Monday. Wilkins was also the pitcher of record for the Greyhounds (2-0), striking out three and walking one in four innings of work.

Wilkins and Maxx Hathaway each had a pair of hits in the game.

Levi Ervin smacked a two RBI triple in the third inning for Lisbon.

Mt. Blue 5, Leavitt 2

FARMINGTON – Mike Toothaker had three RBI as Mt. Blue came out on the winning end of a 5-2 game in a KVAC showdown Monday.

Ryan Given pitched all seven innings for the Cougars (2-1), giving up two hits and one walk to pick up his second win of the season. Adam Gilbert had an RBI single and scored a pair of runs.

Tim Doyle was tagged with the loss for the Hornets despite a five-hit, five-strikeout effort.

Tyler Angell swiped three bags and scored a pair of runs for Leavitt (0-2).

Mt. Abram 9, Telstar 4

SALEM – Senior Brandon Wheeler earned a win on themound as Mt. Abram raced to a 9-4 win over Telstar in MVC baseball action Monday.

The Roadrunners (1-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, and continued to add a marker in each of the next four innings. Jordan Norton and Ben Ladd recorded two singles each. The Rebels (0-1) had difficulty gaining any real traction, mustering only five hits and grabbing four runs.

Buckfield 5, Waynflete 0

PORTLAND – Three Bucks pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout to lead Buckfield to a 5-0 win over Waynflete.

Jaime Henderson pitched four innings, Dan Danforth relieved for two innings of work, and Matt Lowell pitched the seventh to close out the victory.

Lowell and Henderson also had an RBI each in the game, and Chris Reuter and Justin Dodge scored runs for Buckfield (1-0).

Peter Devine had a pair of hits for Waynflete (0-1), and pitched three innings of relief to take the loss.

Mt. Ararat 12, Oxford Hills 4

TOPSHAM – Jordan Bichrest collected three singles as Mt. Ararat soared to a 12-4 win over Oxford Hills in KVAC baseball action Monday.

The Eagles (2-1) started things off with six runs in the first inning, and added a pair in each of the next two frames to take a 10-2 lead.

Winning pitcher Kyle McPherson also recorded a pair of hits.

Justin Frechette had two singles for the Vikings (1-2), while Chris Jennings contributed a triple in the losing effort.

Monmouth 12, Wiscasset 7

MONMOUTH – Erick Murphy slapped three singles and collected three RBI to lead Monmouth to a 12-7 win over Wiscasset in MVC baseball action Monday.

The Redskins (0-2) took a 6-3 lead in the third and improved it to 7-3 before the Mustangs (1-0) launched a come-from-behind effort and scored nine unanswered runs.

Ronnie Hobson started out on the mound for Monmouth, but Scott Ogden came on in relief in the fourth and pitched an excellent final four innings, while the offense hoofed nine runs for the win.
