NEW YORK, NY – American Podiatric Medical Association says Treat Your Feet Right.

Since 2000, hundreds of new stores have opened across the nation that specialize in insoles and foot products to help America’s hurting feet. However, many who turn to these outlets are often misdiagnosed, and end up spending significant money on products that actually worsen their condition.

The American Podiatric Medial Association warns that consumers need to be wary of lofty claims and promises of comfort based solely on an insole’s shape and size. Appropriate diagnosis is extremely important, as all feet are different. Doctors recommend that consumers first schedule an evaluation with a podiatrist and receive a diagnosis before purchasing products. Also, check your health insurance – many plans cover prescription orthotics. For more information visit www.apma.org.
