LEWISTON – One of several new classes in Lewiston Adult Education’s fall program lineup will be “Writing for Pleasure and/or Profit.”
Lynn Ross, an award-winning writer who taught “Writing for Publication” for several years in Florida, will lead the class.
She said, “You won’t have grammar lessons and poetry pounded into your head here. This class is for those who might have a yen to pen a family history or maybe have wondered if they could write a magazine story and be paid for it. Perhaps they just want to start a journal or improve their business writing. There will be absolutely no pressure to produce. All you need is a pen, paper, curiosity and a yen to have fun.”
Ross’s publishing experience includes six years with a book publisher, eight as magazine editor and nine as a freelance writer.
“I welcome anyone with an interest in writing,” she said, “whether for publication or simply for personal use. I particularly enjoy working with new writers. Watching them grow is emotionally rewarding, and when they succeed, I think I’m more excited than they are.”
The class will begin Sept. 7 and run for eight weeks from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
