TURNER – A total of 61 boats competed for more than $7,000 in prizes at the Androscoggin Bassmasters Gulf Island Pond Open Bass Tournament held earlier this month.
Catching the biggest fish was the combination of Henry-Cindy Aube, a 4.23-pound largemouth. Smallmouth lunker was hooked by Mario and Al Blais, 4-pounds.
Taking top honors for the most weight was the duo of Madrid Roddy-Ronnie Smith, 7 fish limit of 20.32-pounds. They claimed first prize of $2,500.
Second place went to Steve Wilson-Josh Platt, 17.16-pounds, followed by Matt Gaydos-Paul Soucy, 16.38-pounds; Mario and Al Blais, 16.18-pounds; and John Volkernick-Rick Baker, 16.10-pounds.
The Children’s Miracle Network and the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center will once again be recipients of over $1,000 from the tourney.
Organizers would like to thank all volunteers, anglers and sponsors NewPage, International Paper (now Versus), Ken’s Yamaha, Emerson Toyota, Northeast Fishing and Nickerson’s Septic, for another successful tournament.
