PORTLAND – Katie Landry notched a pair of goals and had an assist as St. Dom’s recorded a solid 5-0 win over Waynflete in field hockey action Wednesday.
St. Dom’s notched only one goal in the first half before exploding in the second, scoring four more to break open the contest. Mary Lewis, Chelsea St. Onge-May, and Amanda Mayette rounded out the scoring for the undefeated Saints (9-0).
Austyn Carolin faced zero shots for the shutout. Waynflete (1-8) keeper Ally Coss was aggressive in net, making 34 saves.
Jay 3, Boothbay 1
JAY – Katie Hall tallied a goal and had an assist as Jay topped Boothbay 3-1 in an MVC field hockey matchup Wednesday afternoon.
Kristyn Timberlake and Julie Nelson also scored for the Tigers (5-3-1). Brittany Dickenson made eight saves in the net for the win. Ali Hartley scored the lone Boothbay (1-8) goal after driving the ball in from the top of the circle off a corner.
Hebron 3, Gould 2
BETHEL – K.J. Forand netted the game-winning goal off a feed from Kailey Bubier with 5:30 left in the contest to lift Hebron to a 3-2 win over Gould in field hockey Wednesday afternoon.
Forand scored the first goal of the contest at 10:45 into the first half, and Maria Kapernekas added a second goal for Hebron (2-1) before the half.
Gould (1-2) was led with goals by Nelle Reed and Hillary Hough.
Soccer
Hebron 4, Gould 1
BETHEL – Four different players scored as Hebron defeated Gould 4-1 in girls’ soccer action Wednesday.
Katherine Cole, Miriam Scarpino, Kelly Phillips, and Claire Cummings each tallied a goal for Hebron (2-1). Taylor Fey recorded the only assist in the win, while keeper Stephanie Roy made nine saves.
Brittany Rogers converted a pass from Hannah Cowan to score the lone Gould (0-2) goal.
Cape Elizabeth 4, Poland 0
POLAND – Rachel Gips led a group of four players to register goals Wednesday as Cape Elizabeth rolled past Poland 4-0 in WMC girls’ soccer action. Lisa Wolanski, Cathy Wise and Jill Smith also tallied for the Capers (3-4-1) to complete the scoring. Marla Houghton made only five saves to record the shutout.
Paige Piper handled netkeeping duties for the Knights (2-7), turning away 19 shots.
Cape got on the board just as the first half was completed, then came out on fire in the second frame.
St. Dom’s 1, Fryeburg 0
AUBURN – Heidi DeHaan ran into a scramble in front of the net, gained control of the ball and fired a shot into the net from six yards out to lift St. Dom’s to a 1-0 WMC victory over Fryeburg.
Elise Applegate turned back nine shots in net for the Saints (5-1-2) to preserve the shutout.
Ellen Head handled netkeeping chores for the Indians, turning aside 10 shots.
Greely 6, Gray 1
GRAY – Kate Otley and Aly Robinson each tallied a pair of goals to lead Greely to a 6-1 win over Gray/New Gloucestor in soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
Teal Bryan and Hannah Young also had goals for Greely. The lone Gray goal was tallied by Kelsie Taylor with an assist by Jen Farynaz.
