JAY – Jay seized an early lead and made its free throws down the stretch to hold off Lisbon, 48-37, in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.

Brie Beisaw tallied a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers, who shot 24-for-32 from the charity stripe.

Hillary Beane added nine points and Liz LeBlanc scored eight and was credited with six rebounds and assists for Jay (4-1). Christy McAuliffe paced Lisbon (1-4) with 14 points, and Emily Moore added 10.

Dirigo 49, Boothbay 40

BOOTHBAY – Dirigo roared out to a 10-0 lead, then had to battle back in the second half to knock off Boothbay, 49-40, in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday night. Katherine Gagne and Katie Hutchinson led Dirigo (5-0) with 14 points apiece, while Nikki Kaulback added 11. Ali Hartley had 10 points to lead Boothbay (1-3).

Morse 79, Lewiston 46

BATH – Jill Henrikson and Kate Ross combined for 29 points in the first half to lead Morse to a 79-46 win over Lewiston in KVAC girls’ basketball Friday.

Henrikson finished with 19 for the Shipbuilders (4-1) while Ross had 16. Sonya Dickinson added 15 while Beth Suggs chipped in 10.

Lewiston (0-5) got 10 from Danielle Willey and nine from Kim Archibald.

Morse jumped out to a 27-11 lead in the opening quarter and were up by 54-22 by halftime.

Brunswick 67, Leavitt 33

TURNER – Sophomore center Claire Beacher led the way with 20 points as Brunswick sailed to a 67-33 victory over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.

The Dragons applied the 2-2-1 press effectively in the first half to take a 39-8 lead at intermission. Junior guard Brook Maines and senior forward Danyel Cousins contributed 15 points apiece. The Hornets (1-4) caught a break in the third quarter when Leavitt relaxed the press, outscoring the Dragons by a margin of 17-13.

Junior forward Paige Dyer scored nine points and collected nine rebounds, while sophomore guard Megan Miller also scored nine points on three field goals and a free throw, including a basket from beyond the arc.
